She received a <br />Doctorate by the Civil Engineering Faculty – Transportation of Universidad <br />Politécnica de Madrid, with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. Dr. Paix <br />worked on several national and international transport studies based in Europe, U.S. <br />and Latin America. Her expertise covers traffic safety improvements and traffic <br />analysis and design, intelligent transport systems, demand models and data <br />collection. She has presented more than 40 conference papers in high standing <br />conferences around the world. Her thesis titled “Modelling the impact of built <br />environment, geographical scales and latent constructs on individual travel <br />behaviour” was awarded cum laude by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She <br />is currently the EOR of numerous ITS/traffic projects for multiple Districts in Florida. <br />Selected Project Experience <br />SR 430 District 5. This project involves pavement restoration along SR 430 from <br />Clyde Morris to Beach St, including 4 new midblock crossings and 9 existing <br />intersections, milling and resurfacing with the interaction of several roadway <br />elements such as signalization, and lighting. Dr. La Paix was the Engineer of Record <br />for signalization improvements, signalized intersection replacement, pedestrian <br />signal detection, traffic signal traffic controller upgrade to support Automated Traffic <br />Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) and connected vehicle (CV) readiness. <br />She was also responsible for signalized intersection lighting design and ITS <br />coordination to develop interconnect plans. (FDOT Contact: Ty Garner; Start/End <br />Date: 2023-2024). <br />SR 423 District 5 This project involves pavement restoration along SR 423, milling <br />and resurfacing, span wire replacement, the addition of a new signal and <br />development of interconnect plans. Dr. La Paix was the Engineer of Record for <br />signalization improvements, signalized intersection replacement, pedestrian signal <br />detection, traffic signal traffic upgrade to support smart signal readiness, <br />coordination with ITS components, and splicing details. (Start/End Date: 2023- <br />2024). <br />SR 434 District 5. This project involves pavement restoration along SR 434, milling <br />and resurfacing with the interaction of several roadway elements to upgrade <br />pedestrian safety and reestablish vehicle detection. (Start/End Date: 2023-2024). <br />SR 100 Safety Improvements from Belle Terre to Old Kings, District 5. Engineer <br />of Record. This project involves pavement restoration, milling and resurfacing with <br />the interaction of several roadway elements such as signalization, lighting and ITS. <br />Dr. La Paix was the Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical lead of these roadway <br />components.
