<br />Sketches, Parcel Staking, and Legal Descriptions. In the SUE support for surveying services to locate identified utilities and
<br />designate sufficient locations to delineate the existing underground utilities. The designation and location were performed via GPR.
<br />Field crews used tablets with Survey 123 and automated dropdown menus to collect all required information. This information is
<br />sent in real-time to the office for QA/QC and to begin CAD work. The final deliverable to the client included 3D Test Hole Reports
<br />with thorough utility information, such as a description, pipe size, utility owner, condition, horizontal and vertical location, a sketch of
<br />the surrounding area, photos, and GPS coordinates for use in GIS databases.
<br />Districtwide Utility Location Services, FDOT District 6. Project Manager (awarded two consecutive contracts). Provided all the
<br />necessary management services to designate, locate by excavating, survey, and map the existing surface and subsurface utilities
<br />to support the design of construction plans on projects selected by the Department. SUE provides exact horizontal and vertical
<br />locations of the existing underground utilities by way of electromagnetic and other geophysical location techniques including vacuum
<br />excavation. Facilitated a quick response to the Department when ordering subsurface exploration services. The client benefits by
<br />receiving SUE data which enables them to identify, address and remedy potential utility conflicts during the project’s design phase.
<br />The project length is 1,500 miles.
<br />Districtwide Utility Location Services & Districtwide Underground Utility Services Contract, FDOT District 4. Project
<br />Manager. F.R. Aleman provided all the necessary services to designate, locate by excavation, survey, and map existing surface
<br />and subsurface utilities to support the design of construction plans on projects selected by the Department. Exact horizontal and
<br />vertical locations of existing underground utilities were provided by way of electromagnetic, sonic, and other geophysical location
<br />techniques including vacuum excavation.
<br />Districtwide Survey & Mapping Services Support, FDOT District 4. SUE Task Leader. F.R. Aleman was awarded this contract
<br />as Prime consultant. Served as the SUE Task Leader, and responsibilities included preparing the initial estimate, coordinating with
<br />utility owners, scheduling the field crew, leading the CADD portion of the scope, and performing the initial QC of the designation and
<br />location part of the scope. Under this contract, F.R. Aleman provided miscellaneous surveying services throughout District 4. The
<br />underground component was significant, with more than 20 of the total 70 task work orders involving some type of underground utility
<br />investigation.
<br />I-595 Corridor Roadway Improvements, Design-Build, FDOT District 4. SUE Project Manager. This project was the winner of
<br />the People’s Choice Award in the 2015 America's Transportation Awards competition. This $1.2 billion project relieved traffic
<br />congestion and created a multimodal transportation network along I-595 in South Florida. Through a public-private partnership,
<br />design and construction teams completed the project on time and $275 million below the originally estimated cost of the project.
<br />Serving as a subconsultant to the ACS Dragados/EarthTech team for this project, Dennis’ role was the SUE Project Manager. The
<br />area of this project extended from the I-75/Sawgrass Expressway interchange to the I-595/I-95 interchange in central Broward
<br />County, for a total project length of 10.5 miles. The project consisted of the reconstruction, addition of auxiliary lanes and resurfacing
<br />of the I-595 mainline (including associated improvements to frontage roads and ramps), and a new reversible express lanes system
<br />in the I-595 median. Under Dennis’ direction, SUE services were provided to support the design and construction for 15.5 miles of
<br />the interstate highway system, including designation of all requested underground utilities by means of electromagnetic and GPR.
<br />In addition, we provided utility locations using the vacuum excavation method for 1,500 possible utility conflicts. Our in-house
<br />surveying group is providing the necessary survey support, so we may deliver a stand-alone product certified by a Professional Land
<br />Surveyor. The schedule of this project was very demanding. Dennis was required to complete all required SUE work within the first
<br />six months of the design with all work having been completed on-time.
