Raised Intersection at
NW 8th Terrace and NW 15th Avenue
City of Miami Department of Resilience and Public Works (COM-DRPW)
HBC is providing design and engineering services for the construction of a
raised intersection at NW 8th Terrace and NW 15th Avenue, a traffic calming
improvement intended to enhance pedestrian safety, reduce vehicle speeds,
and improve multimodal connectivity. The work is performed as Prime
Consultant under the City of Miami Civil Engineering for Miscellaneous
Projects contract (RFQ 16-17-063), Project No. 40-B243607.
The project includes the preparation of complete construction contract
documents, including roadway, drainage, and signing and pavement marking
plans, supported by topographic survey and geotechnical investigations. The
scope encompasses roadway reconstruction within the raised intersection
limits and concrete transition approaches, milling and resurfacing
approximately 75 feet beyond the approach areas, and installation of
concrete interlocking paver crosswalks per the City of Miami Department
of Resilience and Public Works (DRPW) standard detail TC-3a for traffic
calming devices.
Drainage improvements involve adjustment of existing systems, design of
new structures, and permitting to accommodate modified flow patterns.
Signing and pavement marking plans restore all intersection markings and
pedestrian crosswalks in compliance with FDOT and MUTCD standards.
HBC is also providing utility coordination, including creation of the Sunshine
811 design ticket, proactive communication with Utility/Agency Owners, and
management of all required Utility Certification documentation.
Location
Miami, FL
Dates
2025-Ongoing
Budget
HBC Fee: $112,715
Reference
Lidia Duardo, PE (305) 416-1020
lduardo@miamigov.com City of
Miami DRPW
Key Components
Raised intersection per
DRPW detail TC-3a, Roadway
reconstruction and milling
and resurfacing, Interlocking
paver crosswalks, Drainage
improvements, Signing and
pavement marking, Utility
coordination
