HBC Engineering Company | 27
SR 29 from North of Wagon Wheel Rd to South of
I-75
FDOT District One
FDOT District One advanced this pavement only project along approximately 4.2 miles
of SR-29 from north of Wagon Wheel Road to south of I-75 in Collier County. HBC served
as the prime consultant, with Hernan Lugo serving as Project Manager and Roadway
EOR for the milling and resurfacing and signing and pavement markings improvements.
HBC’s major work included milling and resurfacing of the rural two lane roadway,
mainline pavement, paved shoulders, asphalt driveway connections, updated signing
and pavement markings, ground in rumble striping, object marker replacement, guardrail
evaluation and replacement, damaged shoulder gutter review, utility coordination,
SUE at guardrail and multi post sign locations, drainage review, erosion control, and
environmental permitting coordination. The corridor is located within a natural context
area and primary Florida panther zone, requiring careful consideration of wildlife crossing
features, panther warning signs, wetland conditions, floodplain storage, and coordination
with environmental agencies. Bridge 030299 over a wildlife crossing was excluded from
milling and resurfacing but required structural and functional adequacy review, with
permanent tape markings proposed on the concrete bridge surface. The Long Range
Estimate identified a total project cost of approximately $4.32 million.
Location
Collier County, FL
Dates
2022
Budget
HBC Fee: $1M
Reference
Amber Albritton
(863) 519-2668
Key Components
Paving and Drainage Engineering
Alignment, Structural
Assessment Experience,
Permitting and Regulatory
Coordination, Cost Estimating
and Scope Development
