Page 2

2.8. Saw cut, mill and Remove existing asphalt as shown the demolition plan in order to install
all required drainage, curbs and inlets.
2.9. Utilize an Excavator and crane and perform demolition and disposal of all required,
roadway, curbing, asphalt, signs, seawalls, concrete, etc.
2.10. Removal and stockpile all interfering pavers and signage
2.11. Remove and stockpile existing parking meters and signs
2.12. Removal of all pavement markings with Sand and Water Blasting
2.13. Perform clearing and grubbing
2.14. Mobilize the soil improvement subcontractor immediately following demolition.
2.15. Perform all necessary soil improvement in accordance with the soil improvement
contractors design specifications; as approved by the engineer, based on final geotechnical
conditions. It is expected that either soil mixing or chemical grouting will be used to
improve the soils; however, the subcontractor shall be prepared for either based on the
performance of the initial system chosen (in the event that chemical grouting does not
adequately improve the soils, the contractor will be prepared to change to soil mixing).
2.16. Bridge construction will begin once soil improvement is complete and approved.
2.17. Excavate saw cut and remove approximately 38 LF of existing concrete seawall at End
Bent #1 to allow for bridge construction. Protect seawall to remain in place during
construction, take care not to disturb the tie rods that must remain in place.

3. Foundation
3.1. Install approximately 96 LF of pile supported temporary crane trestle along centerline of
the bridge to Bent No. 3
3.2. Utilize the Crane and Drilled shaft Rig to install a demonstration shaft at a sacrificial
location. Demonstration shaft shall be cut off to a minimum of 2 ft below finish grade.
Demonstration shaft shall be installed utilizing same equipment and procedure as the
production drilled shafts (as outlined below)
3.3. Working off the trestle; utilize the lattice boom crawler crane and vibratory hammer to
install to install the temporary pile supported falsework for drilled shaft installation.
3.4. Working off the trestle; utilize the lattice boom crawler crane and vibratory hammer to
install to install the 4 ea. 42” I.D. steel casing, casing shall be driven until it seats into
competent material. Cut the Drilled shaft casing off to the top of drilled shaft elevation.
3.5. After casing is installed, the Bauer BG25 Drilled shaft rig, will walk onto the trestle and
drill and clean out each drilled shaft. Spoils shall be loaded into sealed storage boxes for
dewatering then loaded onto dump trucks for disposal after drying. The Drilled shaft rig
will walk off of the trestle after the four shafts are complete. Ebsary’s drilled shaft
equipment shall be equipped to drill and clean out the 42” drilled shaft, at a minimum of
elevation of -83 NGVD. Ebsary shall be prepared to drill deeper in the event that issues
are encountered during installation.
3.6. Baffle boxes and settling tanks shall be set within reach of the 3” trash pump that will be
used to pump the water during concrete placement.
