Page 3

3.7. Utilize the Lattice Boom Crawler Crane to set the reinforcing cages with the Cross-hole
Sonic Logging Tubes tied into the cages. Utilize a template on the top of the casing to
hold the cage in place.
3.8. Use a 32 meter concrete pump to place the concrete in each drilled shaft. Concrete
placement to be in accordance with the FDOT Standard Specifications for Roadway and
Bridge Design. Concrete to displace the water inside of the excavated shaft maintaining a
minimum of 5ft of positive head pressure. Concrete to be placed until the exposed top of
shaft concrete is sound concrete.
3.9. During Concrete Placement, the 3” pump will pump the displaced water out of the shaft
into the settling tank and baffle box prior to discharge back into the canal. Turbidity
curtains shall be maintained abound the shafts during placement and around the discharge
location at all times.
3.10. Once the concrete is cured, Utilize the independent testing lab to perform cross-hole sonic
logging testing. Upon approval and acceptance, utilize a 3” grout pump and tremie pipe to
fill the CSL tubes.
3.11. After drilled shaft approval, utilized divers and underwater sub-arc torch to cut the drilled
shaft casing off to a maximum of 2 ft below the mudline.
3.12. Utilize the Lattice Boom Crawler Crane to remove the northern approximately 50ft
section of the trestle and repeat the drilled shaft steps for Bent #2 Drilled Shafts.
3.13. Trestle installation shall be designed such that final section of trestle may be installed
when during the installation of End Bent #1 drilled shafts. Immediately following bent #2
drilled shaft installation; install the End Bent #1 Drilled Shafts in the same manner and the
previous two bents.
3.14. After End Bent Drilled shafts are installed, mobilize the drilled shaft rig to the north side
end bent and mobilize a second lattice boom crawler crane. The existing crane will
remain on the south side of the bridge to complete bridge construction.
3.15. Install approximately 95 LF of trestle from End bent #6 to Bent #4
3.16. Install Bent #4 drilled shafts in the same manner as Bent #3
3.17. Remove approximately 55 LF of trestle when the construction sequence below permits
3.18. Install Bent #5 drilled shafts in the same manner at Bent #2
3.19. Walk off trestle and install End Bent #6 drilled shafts in the same manner as End Bent #1.

4. Substructure & I-Beams
4.1. Immediately following approval and casing removal for Bent No. 3 Drilled shafts, form
and place the cast in place concrete pile cap and beam seats. The drilled shaft temporary
falsework shall be used to support the formwork during placement.
4.2. Immediately following approval and casing removal for Bent No. 2 Drilled shafts, form
and place the cast in place concrete pile cap and beam seats. The drilled shaft temporary
falsework shall be used to support the formwork during placement
4.3. Removal of falsework after the cast in place concrete caps have achieved 28-day strength
4.4. Utilize the southernmost trestle section to walk the lattice boom crawler crane out close
