BEAarchitects <br />Jose Jorge Fernandez, MPMDeputy Project Manager <br />experience <br />Mr. Fernandez is a certified Master Project Manager (MPM) with over 25 years of extensive project <br />management experience managing architectural and vertical construction facility projects with direct <br />responsibility and accountability for day-to-day operations and performance of the project team and <br />support staff. As project manager and principal point of contact (POC) for clients and agencies, Mr. <br />Fernandez has been responsible for assessing and verifying contractual compliance on design-build, <br />design-bid-build, capital improvement and renovation projects. <br />Ransom Everglades Aquatic Center, Coconut Grove, FL. Project Manager for Construction <br />Administration phase of a $7 million Aquatic Center Complex that contains bleachers for 1,000 <br />spectators, lockers, offices and other support spaces. BEA provided complete A/E services for this <br />aquatic center in a sensitive and historical environment. The building has an above ground 50M <br />competition-sized pool, training pool, arena, gymnasium, offices, ancillary facilities and parking areas. <br />The surrounding landscape design includes a seating plaza dedicated to the students and two new <br />tennis courts. A beautified walkway links the new sports facilities to the existing gymnasium and <br />football field to unify the school’s sports complex. BEA conducted a program and budget verification, <br />zoning and code analysis and design concept for the new facility. <br />University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park, Miami, FL. Served as Senior Project <br />Manager for the $60 million University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park, Phase I consisting <br />of 250,000-SF Type B occupancy space designed as an incubator facility for research and development <br />start-ups. Was responsible for and worked day-to-day with the development team. <br />South Florida Proton Center at University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park, Miami, <br />FL. Served as Senior Project Manager for the $85 million South Florida Treatment Center to be <br />located at the UM Life Science and Technology Park. Collaborated and worked day-to-day with the <br />development team. <br />Guaynabo City Hospital, Municipio Autonomo de Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Served as Senior <br />Project Manager for a $64 million pioneering public-private partnership that will result in Puerto Rico’s <br />first all-private room hospital consisting of 94 beds, cardiovascular suite, birthing center, pharmacy <br />and emergency room facilities among other services. <br />James Archer Smith / Homestead Hospital Facility Assessment Report, Miami, FL. The project <br />for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools involved the assessment of an existing120-bed hospital <br />facility being considered a potential site for a magnet school nursing program. Served as Senior <br />Project Manager leading the team of architects, engineers and trades technicians during the course of <br />a week-long, top down evaluation of the existing hospital physical plant that included full assessment <br />of MEP and Life Safety Systems, emergency exit and ADA compliance, evaluation of structural floor <br />loads as well as assessment of exterior window wall envelope for moisture penetration and hurricane <br />wind loading capabilities as well as managing and overseeing a roofing system assessment. <br />Port of Bridgetown, Barbados. Serving as Project Manager for the master planning of 2 different <br />options of 2 cruise terminal locations along the coastline. The “conforming plan” utilizes an existing <br />warehouse for retrofit and the “non-conforming plan” is a new building to be built with land reclamation. <br />Both areas were studied for pedestrian handling within a confined area. <br />Pelican Harbor Marina, Miami, FL. Project Manager responsible for overseeing contract close-out <br />for the new, two-story dock-master building offering offices, a multipurpose room, restrooms, and a <br />laundry facility for boaters renting slips in its marina.
