K. Project Management Services
City of Sunny Isles Beach | Request for Qualifications No. 15-08-02
September 23, 2015
Page 51
design-assist project. Engaging these
trades as design-assist subcontractor(s)
reduces the financial risk to the project
by developing and locking in prices
and ensuring the early development
of a complete scope of work. It also
reduces the risk of unknowns for these
trades during construction, as the
same firm assisting in the completion
and coordination of the design, will be
completing their respective scope(s) of
work.
Coordination and Constructability
Reviews: Coordination and
constructability reviews help mitigate
risk with in-depth reviews of the design
documents throughout the design
completion process and prior to major
design milestones. Coordination reviews
focus on verifying the design and
present consistent solutions among all
disciplines to ensure sequential, timely,
and efficient construction. Coordination
review also focus on interdisciplinary
compatibility to reduce or eliminate
collision between disciplines during the
design effort. Constructability reviews
analyze the availability, quality, and
performance of the selected building
systems. They also analyze code issues
and verify RFP compliance. Construction
reviews will often include pin-up
sessions with all stakeholders, including
independent peer reviewers.
9. Safety
Hensel Phelps’ current Experience
Modification Rate (EMR) is 0.44 --
less than half the industry average.
Additionally, our Days Away, Restricted or
Transferred (DART) Rate for 2014 was .68.
The emphasis Hensel Phelps places on
safety has resulted in one of the construction
industry’s best safety performance records.
This record is even more significant
considering the fact that Hensel Phelps has
self-performed an average of 4 million labor
hours over the past three years. Hensel
Phelps’ safety EMR rate is always well
below the industry average of 1.0, resulting
in significant savings through reduced
Worker’s Compensation insurance rates.
We take pride in both our safety program
and its award-winning results. For both our
private and public clients, Hensel Phelps
has been recognized for our commitment
of making sure all activities on site are
performed as safely as possible. In
support of a ZERO accident safety culture,
Hensel Phelps employs an outstanding
safety incentive plan involving employee
accountability at every level to truly “rally
the troops” and keep everyone motivated to
work in as safe manner.
