City of Sunny Isles Beach Government Center Annex | RFP# 15-08-02
F. Related Experience
Page 27
Project Description
Skanska was selected to provide construction management at
risk services for the new Eastside Operations Center. Gainesville
Regional Utilities is the electrical, water, sewer and gas provider
for the North Central Florida Region. This new facility combines
several locations into a single centralized hub to facilitate the
administration, maintenance, data, IT, communications and
control center for transmission and distribution of the power grid.
This 275,000-GSF project consists of eight major buildings, three
minor buildings, a vehicle refueling station, truck shelter, extensive
site work including paving, drainage and related work. The new
control center is equipped with an Uptown Tier IV data center
and hardened to withstand a close proximity blast. Both the safety
training facility and the control center are hurricane hardened
structures rated to withstand 150 mph winds. The building’s
structural system utilized tilt-up concrete and steel frame
construction and included primary and secondary electrical and
mechanical systems, and external and internal security systems.
Project Relevance
• Public sector project
• Education and training facility
• Government operations center
• Over 100,000-SF facility
Owner
City of Gainesville
Reid Rivers
200 East University
Ave.
Gainesville, FL
32601
352.393.1545
rivershr@gru.com
Architect
Bentley Architects &
Engineers, Inc.
Gary Kranston
65 W.
