Related Experience <br />Page 28 <br />Project Description <br />The courthouse and federal building currently house the U.S. <br />Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Attorney and the <br />GSA. The project goal was to convert the facility into a “high- <br />performance green building” that would result in a model <br />workplace incorporating sustainable design principles. The <br />building contains 188,588-SF of renovated space, a 12,000-SF new <br />stair tower and a 3,000-SF security pavilion. The scope included <br />the construction of new offices, operations centers, conference <br />and training rooms, meeting space for employees and a security <br />checkpoint at the building entrance. Other interior renovations <br />involved intrusion detection systems (IDS) installation, mechanical <br />(HVAC), electrical, water/sewer, abatement and information <br />technology upgrades. The project incorporated special provisions <br />for visitor access and internal controlled areas designed and <br />constructed to meet the functional needs of specific government <br />agencies.
