City of Sunny Isles Beach Government Center Annex | RFP# 15-08-02
F. Related Experience
Page 29
Project Description
This project includes construction of a new park and restoration of
an existing concrete parking structure with a roof top garden, and
construction of new museum facilities for the Tampa Museum of
Art which were relocated from an outdated structure on the park
site. Overlooking the Hillsborough River, the 5-acre redesigned
park provides open green spaces for residents and tourists to
congregate, dine, experience outdoor concerts and events and
stroll along Tampa’s expanded Riverwalk.
Spaces accommodated in the new 100,000-SF museum facility
include art gallery space, storage/work areas, educational spaces,
conference and lecture rooms and offices. The museum is sheathed
in pierced aluminum and shimmers as the sunlight changes on
its surface. Housed within the metal skin is programmable LED
lighting which allows the exterior of the building to become a
“canvas” giving the museum thousands of options for changing
designs.
Project Relevance
• Municipal aesthetically pleasing
• Community and civic uses
• Downtown setting with logistical challenges
• Collaborative approach with project team
• Award wining project
Owner
City of Tampa
David Vaughn
306 E.
