11
Task Three – Community Engagement and Strategic Direction

The consultant team will activate the outreach and marketing plan to initiate public
connection to the project, communicate updates on this project and provide information on
public engagement and public information opportunities. It will be critical to work with the
Steering Committee to reach members of the community that reflect the population and
business make-‐up of the city; and to ensure the same reach when soliciting general public
engagement. Connecting with all
populations and neighborhood associations will be an important part of this public
engagement. The process will be highly participatory, fun and creative. Consultants will collect
data and formulate a draft vision statement and strategic theme options for review and
discussion by the Steering Committee.
There will be one youth engagement project designed to understand current interests of
young people and what would facilitate greater engagement in cultural activities. We will work
with local school leadership, Pelican Park and Community Center and others to determine an
invitation list and provide a fun, creative, and participatory process.
Task Three will include the second meeting of the Steering Committee where
consultants will share findings to date, public input, and engage the group in an intensive
