Check the installation directions of related work specified elsewhere before proceeding. <br /> <br />3.02 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />: <br /> A. Mount articles of hardware at locations and in the manner prescribed in the respective DHI standards <br />specified in 1. GENERAL, unless otherwise specified. <br /> <br /> B. Conform to manufacturer's instructions. <br /> <br /> C. All field preparations, such as drilling, cutting, tapping, and countersinking shall be accurately executed to <br />assure precise fitting and adjustment. <br /> <br /> D. Use fasteners of correct size and type with anchoring devices as required by construction conditions, suited <br />to the nature of the attachment substrate and the duty performance required. <br /> <br /> E. In the course of installation, avoid damage to hardware mechanisms, finished, and surrounding surfaces, <br />smearing of paints, sealants, and lubricants onto surfaces not intended to receive them, and the admission <br />of foreign matter into chassis and cases of units and their associated preparations. <br /> <br /> F. Seal weather protection components attached to the exterior sides of doors and frames, such as drip caps, in <br />place with clear silicone caulk in such a manner as to ensure a continuously filled seam throughout the <br />joinery. <br /> <br /> G. At exterior doors, obtain satisfactory operation of the installation, then apply a thin layer of clear silicone <br />caulk under hinge leaves, both door and frame. Remove excess caulk after torquing fasteners. <br /> <br />3.03 ADJUSTMENT AND CLEANING <br /> <br />: <br /> A. Carefully adjust and check the operation of each unit. <br /> <br /> B. Lubricate units only as recommended by their manufacturers. <br /> <br /> C. Remove excess sealants, lubricants, and any other foreign substances and protect all installations from <br />subsequent damage. <br /> <br /> D. Clean units just prior to final acceptance and only with materials and procedures recommended by their <br />manufacturers. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION
