Samson Oceanfront Park <br />City of Sunny Isles <br />Technical Specifications <br />PROTECTIVE COATINGS <br />09990-1 <br />SECTION 09990 - PROTECTIVE COATINGS <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 SCOPE <br /> <br />: The Work under this Section consists of all painting and finishing work and related items necessary to <br />complete the work indicated on the Drawings and described in the specifications, except as otherwise indicated. <br /> A. All exposed surfaces throughout the job, except the following: <br /> 1. Aluminum <br /> 2. Ceramic Tile <br /> 3. Resilient Tile <br /> 4. Epoxy Floors <br /> 5. Factory-finished items (unless indicated otherwise) <br /> 7. Wall Coverings <br /> <br /> B. All exposed piping, ductwork, conduit, hangers, accessories and equipment (both interior and exterior) <br />shall be painted (colors to be as selected by the Engineer). <br /> <br />1.02 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS <br /> <br />: <br /> A. Except as otherwise specified herein, or specifically approved by the Engineer, in writing, the following <br />shall be the products of the manufacturers listed, subject to compliance with specification requirements: <br /> 1. Devoe <br /> 2. Glidden <br /> 3. Flex Bond <br /> 4. Sherwin Williams <br /> 5. Sinclair <br /> 6. Benjamin Moore <br /> <br />1.03 COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARD AND INDUSTRY SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />: <br /> A. All materials or operation specified by reference to the published specifications of a manufacturer, the <br />American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Federal Specification (F.S.), Steel Structure Painting <br />Council (SSPC), or other published standards shall comply with the requirements of the standard listed. In <br />case of conflict among the referenced specifications or standards, the one having the more stringent <br />requirements shall govern. <br /> <br /> B. The Contractor, if required, shall furnish an Affidavit from the manufacturer certifying that the materials or <br />products delivered to the project meet the requirements specified. However, such certification shall not <br />relieve the Contractor from the responsibility of complying with any added requirements specified herein. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.01 MATERIALS <br /> <br />: <br /> A. General Requirements: <br /> 1. Paints, stains, and fillers shall be of type and brands hereinafter specified under "Schedule of <br />Painting". <br /> 2. Other painting material required, but not specifically described, such as linseed oil, shellac, <br />turpentine, and thinner, shall be of the highest quality and shall have identifying labels on <br />containers. <br /> 3. All paint shall be delivered to the site in manufacturer's sealed containers. The manufacturer shall <br />label each container. Label shall give manufacturer's name, type of paint, formulation, color of <br />paint, and instructions for reducing.
