Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting October 15,2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> do,when they move in between schools in the middle of the County,nobody cares. It is not <br /> a big deal because they have to educate this population and if they send her here or there it is <br /> not as big a deal. In our case we got a double whammy, we contribute money that this <br /> community paid in taxes and do largely we want to believe that should be for the benefit of <br /> mostly our community. Second is, we are on the heels of Broward County,there are a lot of <br /> folks that go to that school that don't even live in the County and so they are even paying <br /> property taxes that go to our School Board, and so it is even more egregious in some ways. <br /> Again,this is a very unpopular issue, it is an issue as a parent feels terrible about but the fact <br /> is that parents put their kid in this position and now we have an epidemic as far as he is <br /> concerned,and so he thinks we have to deal with it in one form or fashion and he appreciates <br /> everyone's support. <br /> 6. ZONING: ZONING HEARINGS ARE QUASI-JUDICIAL PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br /> 6A. Public Hearing: <br /> An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Entitled <br /> "Small Scale Amendment to the Future Land Use Map of the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> Comprehensive Plan"; Providing for Transmittal to the Florida Department of Economic <br /> Opportunities;Providing for Inclusion in the Code; Providing for Severability;Providing for <br /> Repealer; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Planning and Zoning Administrator Claudia <br /> Hasbun reported that the Small Scale Amendment will help us develop our Government <br /> Center by re-designating a total of four (4) parcels to Community Facility Land Use. This <br /> property is the actual City Government Center, the lot north of City Hall, and the lot where <br /> Tony Roma sits. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Levin seconded a motion to approve the <br /> proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5-0 <br /> in favor.
