An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Amending <br /> Section 256-14 of the Code of Ordinances of Sunny Isles Beach ("Parking Rates"); <br /> Establishing New Hourly Parking Fees at Certain Parking Meter Locations;Providing <br /> for Severability; Providing for Inclusion in the Code; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Deputy City Manager Stan Morris reported that <br /> this will adjust our parking rates from $2.00 to $3.00 an hour specifically for our beach <br /> parking at Ellen Wynn and Pier Park. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Commissioner Aelion said he had asked staff to look at the neighboring cities public parking <br /> facilities and beach accesses, compare them, and if there was room for adjustment. <br /> Vice Mayor Gatto moved and Commissioner Aelion seconded a motion to approve the <br /> proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5-0 <br /> in favor. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida,Amending <br /> Section 265-21 ("Certificates of Occupancy") of the Code of Ordinances to Clarify that a <br /> Certificate of Occupancy May be Revocated or Suspended by the City upon the <br /> Occurrence of Certain Conditions; Providing for Severability; Providing for Inclusion in <br /> the Code; Providing for Repeal of Conflicting Provisions; and Providing for an Effective <br /> Date. <br /> Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Attorney Ottinot reported that the Building <br /> Official has the authority to revoke a Certificate of Occupancy under State Law. We <br /> basically are including that provision in the City Code to give this authority. <br /> Public Speakers: None <br /> Mayor Scholl said the genesis of this was the Chateau Beach building had been issued a <br /> Certificate of Occupancy, fortunately no one was living there at the time of the explosion. <br /> Monday morning following the explosion our Building Official Clay Parker revoked the <br /> Certificate of Occupancy because clearly the building was not suitable for occupancy any <br /> longer after the explosion because several of the life safety systems in the building were <br /> damaged. The contractor now has to go back to repair the building,apply for permits,rebuild <br /> those systems and then come back to ask for another Certificate of Occupancy. <br /> Commissioner Aelion asked if the City has the right to revoke a Certificate of Occupancy <br /> 12 <br />
