® Destination Nene Rice with Bus/Intermodal Center
® Poll 01San/na/L Pue/t0Rico
$©„ „. Pier 3 was demolished and redesigned,Pier 4 renovated,and Pier 5 designed and built in historic
0 Old San Juan. The new neighborhood is known as Destination Puerto Rico. BEA handled the fill,
® ,etllV"art•;ro permitting and preparation of the 24 acres necessary for the urban waterfront development and
® -e-" ' ® ° also designed, developed and generated an Environmental Impact Statement and construction
1•-,' =t'i.' - 'r documents for the estimated 20 structures of the project. Plans included an extensive marina,
® #" Ft p . , mixed-use retail village and tri-level parking for 2,200 vehicles. The port structures encompass
0 - t 400,000 SF and include 100,000 SF of theaters. Cruise terminals were planned and designed
® ` as fifth generation terminals able to accommodate three Eagle Class ships simultaneously.
® To accommodate the large volume of diverse traffic that would converge on the multiuse devel-
® opment, a large bus and intermodal center was planned at a subterranean level. This allowed
® for excellent vehicular staging and circulation while not sacrificing the important urban density of
the pedestrian retail environment at the grade level plan.
®
Fin's/esponsibi/it/es
® Master Plan
® Architecture
Engineering
•
® Aene/sonne/ r fi
® Bruno E.Ramos, _. , . . + . t1;-"1-2.11k.
a
® AIA,NCARB,GC,LEEDAP 5 r,-s -.E;' a 'lir- ,, <.-c,
John Colao,AIA.GC J,, x a
® - -, F. t,„:„
t a F.ry--- . .1_ R f
a
®
o P
. ar- AY j jg ,
fa completion dale " y 2002 ; d - 'i ` A ,g,, •
lid '.
t .
N 7W 1 _
O estimatedc. r + - —.-- .dr3.tf ,
0 DM 6.prefect
6240 million ',TTtfz -.-...C_,. --40, „ .
aiN
r---> vcn-__2'1-NAI
® MOWN wiNe//
f/mwas responsible
® $240 million
•
•
sir?* 36 r. i.:ry4.
