<br /> John Boudreau, RLA Decatur MARTA Station Plaza, City of Decatur, Decatur, GA. Lead planner and landscape
<br /> Design Guidelines architect for a multidisciplinary team headed by Atkins that led a steering committee to a
<br /> develop a master plan for the City of Decatur that identified over SW million in urban design
<br /> improvements and identified future infill projects. A key aspect of the project was developing
<br /> a realistic design solution which resolved the conflict of scale between the small town
<br /> atmosphere of downtown Decatur and the urban scale of the MARTA Plaza. The Church Street
<br /> block of downtown was incorporated into the master plan, as it was determined to be of
<br /> critical importance to the success of the plaza. Proposed improvements included modifications
<br /> to the plaza, new streetscape improvements, and infill buildings. Atkins has assisted the city in
<br /> completing a nearly $8 million of the urban design improvements. The remaining streetscape
<br /> project are completed and awaiting construction authorization.
<br /> Arlington Entertainment District, City of Arlington, Arlington, TX. Project manager
<br /> in charge of developing identity and wayfinding for the Arlington Entertainment District.
<br /> Atkins provided sign location master plan, gateway and wayfinding signage design, a phased
<br /> implementation plan for installation of signs, and limited construction phase services. The
<br /> project developed the district's identity through a comprehensive signage program. Concepts
<br /> were created through a stakeholders design charrette followed by design development and
<br /> construction plans. The comprehensive'kiosks, vehicular directional, and banners.
<br /> Canton Street(Phases I & II), City of Canton, Roswell, GA. Project manager to prepare
<br /> initial concept plans, cost estimate, and construction documents for streetscape improvements
<br /> in this historic district. Detailed design and construction documents for the proposed
<br /> improvements included street trees, new curb and gutter, brick sidewalks, retaining walls,
<br /> pedestrian scale lights, and underground utilities. The project's total construction budget was
<br /> $2 million.
<br /> Spring Street, Atlanta, GA. Project manager for the design and construction documents for
<br /> the streetscape project in downtown Atlanta. The construction budget included $600,000 in
<br /> pedestrian enhancements including new sidewalk paving, street lights, street trees, and street
<br /> furnishing.
<br /> Walton Park, City of Atlanta, GA. Project design services for the small urban park located
<br /> on International Boulevard in the City of Atlanta. The urban plaza included plaza area, seating,
<br /> lighting, and landscape improvements.
<br /> Master Plan, City of Powder Springs, Powder Springs, GA. Project planner and designer
<br /> for the preparation of a master plan which focused on a citywide study area and a downtown
<br /> study area. The citywide study area encompassed five square miles within the city limits.
<br /> The downtown area paid specific attention to the historic downtown area along Marietta
<br /> and Atlanta streets. Recommended citywide improvements included five new city gateways,
<br /> approximately 26 miles of sidewalks, landscaping, lighting and on-road bicycle facilities,
<br /> approximately 7 miles of off-road multi-use paths/greenway corridors and rail-to-trail projects.
<br /> Included in the plan is a 5-acre expansion to the existing Powder Springs Park. Recommended
<br /> downtown improvements included two proposed historic downtown gateways, a new cultural
<br /> center, approximately 4 miles of downtown streetscape improvements, a new downtown
<br /> community square, a redeveloped downtown commercial area, a new plaza, and restoration of
<br /> an existing historic Coca Cola wall mural.
<br /> International Boulevard, Atlanta, GA. Project manager for this streetscape revitalization
<br /> project with services that included: inventory analysis, schematic design, and construction
<br /> documents to redefine the public streetscape and urban parks of International Boulevard and
<br /> Marietta Street. This 9-block corridor connects the hotel/business district to the Georgia World
<br /> Congress Center, the Omni Area, CNN Center, and the Georgia Dome, which constitute the
<br /> largest amount of public assembly facilities in the southeast. The project construction cost was
<br /> $5 million, 80 percent of which were Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act(ISTEA)
<br /> funds. This major streetscape project was designed and constructed by the 1996 Centennial
<br /> Olympic Games.
