BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br /> <br />A continuation of the City’s original Beachwalk project, the Beachwalk II is planned to connect Lummus Park to the pedestrian <br />path at the Continuum properties, south of South Pointe Drive. The path encompasses 5 blocks, connecting 3 vital parks within <br />the City’s South of Fifth neighborhood. The $4M Beachwalk path will serve to energize the coastal development within the <br />South of Fifth area while also formalizing the existing hardpack area between 5th Street and South Pointe Drive by <br />encompassing: <br /> <br />• Three (3) open-space parks (Lummus, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and South Pointe) <br />• The South of Fifth neighborhood <br />• Coastal dune improvements and controlled beach access points <br /> <br />Coastal Systems is responsible for the planning, design, and regulatory permitting for the project, along with AECOM, a <br />landscape architecture and urban planning sub-consultant. Preliminary designs were completed with renderings for public <br />meetings. The project has been phased to account for adjacent property owners in the northern section of the project. <br />Construction of Phase 1 was completed in October of 2014, and CCCL permitting for Phase 2 is progressing. <br /> <br /> <br />25.
