CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. | 3563 NW 53rd STREET, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33309 | P 954.739.6400
TAB 4 - BACKGROUND AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH - REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 16-06-02

CTA’s active park design, permitting, and construction experience
involves preparing design documents that include sports fields,
path systems, exercise trails, vehicular circulation, storm water
detention, play areas, visitor facilities and interpretive signage. Our
passive park projects incorporate elements, including a number of
nature trails, picnic areas, and gathering spaces that take
advantage of existing natural features. Passive parks can also act
as social spaces for people to interact. The maintaining of natural
green space is not only environmentally important, but moreover, is
much less costly from a maintenance perspective.
Our landscape architecture creates master plans, designs for
public facilities such as libraries, community centers, city halls and
other municipal facilities promote the building architecture and
emphasize the character of the surrounding neighborhood.
We consider that a building is not an invasion of the landscape but
a vital extension of it. Where a building rests on the land, and how
it rests on the land, sets the context for its evolving construction,
development, and use.
Planning
CTA has been actively engaged in Land Planning since the creation
of the firm. We believe time is an important ingredient for any
project, and proper planning minimizes the time in executing a
project. We are prepared to provide land planning services in a
professional manner to move projects to the design, approval and
construction stage in the shortest possible time. One of the
challenges that we have faced is working with municipalities that
are dealing with small or decreasing budgets. Our work in the City
of Miami Gardens is an example of this. We have accommodated
the City by preparing Design Reports and initial studies with
budgets that are broken down into manageable phases.
Construction can then proceed with portions that can be funded
within the available budget.
Civil/Transportation Engineering
We offer a wide range of Civil Engineering capabilities that we coordinate with our Planners,
Surveyors and Landscape Architects, to provide a total capability, from site evaluation to a
completed project. We take pride in our ability as "Problem Solvers". A large portion of our
engineering group’s activities and efforts are devoted to the planning, and design of various
street projects. This includes preparing plans, calculations, and specifications, permitting,
conducting the necessary public meetings and hearings, bidding projects, coordinating the
acquisition of easements as necessary for the construction of the project, coordinating and
accommodating adjacent with stakeholders, inspecting the construction, performing contract
administration for the construction, final certification and grant administration when applicable.
CTA has provided services as prime consultant for LAP Projects for the City of Aventura (Exercise
4 ǀ Page 3
