Coastal Manaaement Element The City of Sunny Isles Beach is located entirely on a barrier island and a significant portk>n of the City's economic base is contingent on the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway. The 2000 Comprehensive Plan indicated the City's goal of restricting coastal development that would damage upland and marine resources and to protect residents from the dangers of natural disasters.
