<br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS <br /> <br />JIM DIPIETRO <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />Administrative Regulation #1-6 <br />Approved ,~ Date 01/15/99 <br />, <br /> <br />ALL DEPARTMENTS (EXCLUDING POLICE) <br />ACCIDENT REVIEW BOARD <br /> <br />OBJECTIVE <br /> <br />To review traffic accidents and detennine their causal factors and preventability so that action may <br />be taken to reduce the likelihood of repeated accidents, and to provide guidelines for training and <br />supervising personnel. Other types of accidents may be investigated at the City Manager's discretion. <br /> <br />RESPONSIBILITY <br /> <br />The Accident Review Board will have the power to review accidents to determine if they were <br />preventable and report its findings to the City Manager. <br /> <br />The City Manager shall have the responsibility to review the findings of the board and to take any <br />disciplinary action as is deemed appropriate or necessary. The City Manager shall be solely <br />responsible for determining whether to levy disciplinary action. <br /> <br />PROCEDURES: <br /> <br />The Accident Review Board will be convened at the discretion of the City Manager. <br /> <br />A. The Accident Review Board will consist of one Police Officer and two Civilians to be <br />designated by the City Manager. <br /> <br />B. Two votes are required for any official action by the Board. <br /> <br />C. The Board shall meet on an as-needed basis. <br /> <br />D. Members selected to serve on the Board will serve until the accident investigation is <br />completed and the City Manager has accepted its findings. <br /> <br />GENERAL RULES OF CASES TO BE REVIEWED: <br /> <br />A. The Accident Review Board will review accidents to determine causal factors. The Board <br />in each case may interview the employee involved and may also, at its discretion, call further <br /> <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
