a/- 367 <br />Fred Maas <br />Chief of Police <br />TO: The Commission, City Manager, and Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach <br />FROM: Fred Maas, Chief of Police <br />DATE: September 20, 2001 <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Allowing Sunny Isles Beach Police Department to Enter <br />Into and Accept a Contract Agreement for Police Radio and <br />Equipment Maintenance With Communications International <br />Incorporated in the amount of S20,000.00 for a One Year Period, From <br />July 2001 thru July 2002 <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve a Resolution authorizing the <br />Police Department to enter into a maintenance contract agreement for the police <br />radios and equipment, both hand-held and vehicle installed in the amount of <br />S20,000.00; with Communications International Inc. for a one year period. <br />Reasons: <br />The maintenance, repair and upkeep of police radio communication is an absolute <br />necessity in the performance of an officers job and the safety of the City. <br />Communications International is the sole source of providing police radio <br />maintenance and repair. The police department has utilized their services since the <br />inception of the police department in July 1998. <br />Additional Information: <br />Maintenance agreements on such equipment have proven cost efficient due to the <br />expensiveness related to repairs and maintenance of this highly sensitive and <br />technical equipment. The police department has experienced little or no additional <br />charges outside the contract agreement.
