The ENGINEER shall <br />establish the length and width of the area to be cleared and grubbed prior to the beginning <br />of any work. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS (Not Used) <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />3.01 CLEARING <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />LJ <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The surface of the ground for the area to be cleared and grubbed shall be completely <br />cleared, as indicated on the plans, as well other objectionable obstructions resting on or <br />protruding through the surface of the ground. However, those trees that are designated on <br />the plans to remain shall be preserved as hereinafter specified. Clearing operations shall be <br />conducted so as to prevent damage to existing structures and installations, and to those <br />under construction, so as to provide for the safety of employees and others. Clearing for <br />structures shall consist of topsoil, vegetation and lime sludge removal. <br /> <br />3.02 GRUBBING <br /> <br />L.} <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />L..J <br /> <br />fl <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />u <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Grubbing shall consist of the complete removal of all stumps, roots larger than 1 1/2 inches <br />in diameter, matted roots, brush, timber, logs and any other organic or metallic debris <br />resting on, under or protruding through the surface of the ground to a depth of 18 inches <br />below the subgrade. All depressions excavated below the original ground surface for or by <br />the removal of such objects, shall be refilled with suitable materials and compacted to a <br />density conforming to the surrounding ground surface. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />In areas so designated, top soil, not muck shall be stockpiled. Topsoil so stockpiled shall <br />be protected until it is placed as specified. Any topsoil remaining after all work is in place <br />shall be disposed of by the Contractor in the manner specified in Section 02221. <br /> <br />LJ 3.04 DISPOSAL OF CLEARED AND GRUBBED MATERIAL <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />fl <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />06/05 <br /> <br />L.J <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall dispose of all material and debris from the clearing and grubbing <br />operation by shipping such material and debris and disposing such material to a suitable <br />location as required by the Engineer or the governmental agencies. Disposal by deep burial <br />will not be permitted. The cost of disposal of material (including hauling) shall be <br />considered a subsidiary obligation of the Contractor, the cost of which shall be included in <br />the contract prices. <br /> <br />02100-1 <br /> <br />03-4138.8 <br />
