The Contractor shall take precautions to prevent injury to the public due to <br />open trenches. All trenches, excavated material, equipment, or other <br />obstacles which could be dangerous to the public shall be well lighted at <br />night. <br /> <br />1.05 TEST PITS <br /> <br />A. Test pits for the purpose of locating underground pipeline or structures in <br />advance of the construction shall be excavated and backfilled by the <br />Contractor at his cost at the direction of the Engineer. Test pits shall be <br />backfilled immediately after their purpose has been satisfied and the <br />surface restored and maintained in a manner satisfactory to the <br />Engineers. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS (NOT USED) <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 COOPERATION WITHIN THIS CONTRACT <br /> <br />A. All firms or persons authorized to perform any work under this Contract <br />shall cooperate with the General Contractor and his subcontractors or <br />trades, and shall assist in incorporating the work of other trades where <br />necessary or required. <br /> <br />B. Cutting and patching, drilling and fitting shall be carried out where required <br />by the trade or subcontractor having jurisdiction, unless otherwise <br />indicated herein or directed by the Engineer. <br /> <br />3.02 PROTECTION OF CONSTRUCTION AND EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />A. All newly constructed work shall be carefully protected from injury in any <br />way. No wheeling or walking or placing of heavy loads on it shall be <br />allowed and all portions injured shall be reconstructed by the Contractor at <br />his own expense. <br /> <br />B. All structures shall be protected in a manner approved by the Engineer. <br />Should any of the floors or other parts of the structures become heaved, <br />cracked or otherwise damaged, all such damaged portions of the work <br />shall be completely repaired and made good by the Contractor at his own <br />expense and to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Special attention is <br />directed to substructure bracing requirements described in Section 02220. <br />If, in the final inspection of the work, any defects, faults or omissions are <br /> <br />04/08 <br /> <br />01505-2 <br /> <br />06-5723 <br />
