PROJECT OWNER <br />USACE New Orleans District <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Fees: $500,000 <br /> <br />24, BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />As a subcontractor to Mobile Group, Inc. an SA firm, Malcolm Pirnie <br />was contracted to provide quality assurance services for a variety of <br />Hurricane Rita/Katrina Recovery eff0l1s in Louisiana. Under this <br />contract, we are required to provide field personnel to perfonn quality <br />assurance monitoring of debris removal contractors and general <br />construction oversight including demolition. Within days of contract <br />award Malcolm Pimie mobilized a core group of engineers and <br />scientists to set up operations in the hurricane disaster area, This core <br />group set up operations for our inspection teams, <br />The contract was initiated in December 2005 and included providing <br />USACE trained Quality Assurance Representatives within three days of <br />Notice to Proceed, We were able to use our local staff in New Orleans to oversee our eff0l1 there. We also suppol1ed this <br />operation from our field office in Biloxi, Mississippi. <br />The work supports the debris clearance, removal and reduction mission, and general construction projects related to <br />hurricane recovery efforts, Our personnel now playa key role in the day-to-day operations of the Corps debris cleanup <br />mission, The services covered under this contract include: <br />Debris Removal Quality Assurance Monitoring <br /> <br />. Right-of-Entry and Right-of-Way loading, roving and disposal <br />site monitoring of disaster debris contractor operations <br /> <br />. Completion of debris load tickets and distribution of copies, <br /> <br />. Inspection of debris contractor's work to verify conformity with <br />requirements of his contract. <br /> <br />. Reporting of observed variances from the contract requirements <br /> <br />. Maintaining inspection records, <br /> <br />. Preparing reports of inspections, identi fying items that have been <br />satisfactorily inspected, and those which require correction in <br />accordance with established guidelines, <br /> <br />. Assisting the USACE Resident Engineer in dealings with officials of other agencies (Federal and/or State) who <br />are vested with authority to enforce requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, and the U,S. <br />Army Corps of Engineers Safety Manual, EM 385-1-1, latest edition, <br /> <br />.
