BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size and cost) SR 997, a rural principal arterial, is considered a main north-south artery with heavy truck traffic, and SR 90 is a principal arterial in the east-west direction of Miami-Dade County. The existing bridge at Canal C-4, just north of the intersection of SR 997 and SR 90, needed to be replaced by a wider bridge to accommodate full width of the roadway shoulders and exclusive left and right turn lanes. These turning lanes will improve traffic movement and reduce the accident rate at the Krome Avenue and SW 8th Street intersection. Reconstruction of the existing roadways included approximately Y2-mile of work along Krome Avenue and :t 0.3 mile of work along SR 90. A complete drainage analysis and improvements were included because the bridge and road reconstruction will add slightly over two acres of impervious areas to the site. A retaining wall was added along the north side of SR 90 since Canal C-4 runs parallel to the existing road. (Cost $4.8 million; Design Fee: $400,000) I I I ~ I I I I I I I 25.
