Performed a geotechnical engineering study and provided technical assistance throughout
the design/construction phases of this project. This project was initially designed to be supported on 125, 6-ft-diameter drilled shafts installed to
significant depths; however, due to significant advances in the local ACIP Piling industry, 36-inch-diameter, 1,200 ton piles were utilized for tower
support, Cost of work: $1,000,000 (phased)
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Solis Resort, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida PROFESSIONAL SERVICES I CONSTRUCTION (if applicable)
On-going
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE 121 Check if project performed with current firm.
c. Technical Advisor. The project is under-construction and consists of a 55-story residential tower in the southern end of Sunny
Isles Beach. The foundation design for this project consists of the use of 30-inch-diameter, 145 ft to 150 ft long augered cast-in-
place (ACIP) piles extended beyond the compressible sand and weakly cemented layers typically encountered in the Sunny Isles
Beach area. The ACIP pile load testing program included the installation of a deep O-cell embedded jack, approximately 24 ft
above the tip of the test pile, The services also included the collection and testing of the near-surface materials for compatibility
with the beach sand, as part of the soil compatibility performed by the project civil engineer.
