(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE IZJ Check if project performed with current firm.
The project consisted of a forensic investigation to determine why two lake lowering discharge wells were not operating at capacity. The system
consisted of pumping from on-site lakes into the drainage wells. The investigation included reviewing and interpreting geologic logs, evaluating well
construction logs, collecting and evaluating hydrologic data for the on-site ponds and Biscayne Bay. Langan conducted a hydrogeologic investigation
to determine suitable zones for injection of untreated lake water and a surface water investigation to determine water quality of the discharged lake
water. As part of the permitting of this well, Langan is currently conducting a hydrogeologic investigation to determine the lateral continuity of a semi-
confining layer above the untreated production zones. Mr, Yarina managed all aspects of this project. and provided technical review and professional
certifications for finished work products. His work on this project has allowed the client to realize a significant cost savings in water treatment and
avoid otentiallon -term fines for violation of Florida Statutes. The cost of the ro'ect is $45,000 and is on oin .
Langan evaluated a hydrogeologic investigation conducted by Jaffer Associates to provide a Reasonable Assurance Report to satisfy the
requirements of Chapter 62-528, Florida Administrative Code (FAC), for permitting of Class V, Group 6 underground injection control wells for deep
injection of stormwater runoff. Langan's evaluation of the water quality and geological data collected from a 200 ft deep test hole indicated that deep
well injection could not be accomplished until 140 ft bls. Mr. Yarina managed all aspects of this project, and provided technical review and
rofessional certifications for finished work roducts. The cost of the com leted ro'ect was a roximatel $5,000.
62-528, Florida Administrative Code (FAC), for permitting of Class V, Group 6 underground injection control wells for deep injection of stormwater
runoff. Langan supervised the logging of a 150ft-deep test hole using geophysical techniques (induction conductivity, neutron, and gamma-gamma)
and Standard Penetration Test data and the collection of water quality using a "real-time" rotary method. An evaluation of the geophysical.
geotechnical and water quality data indicated that 105 ft below land surface (bls) was suitable for injection and meet the intent of the Chapter 62-528.
FAC requirements. Mr. Yarina managed all aspects of this project. and provided technical review and professional certifications for finished work
roducts.
Performed a Phase II ESA for contiguous vacant parcels of land that formerly contained low-rise motels. Investigated an on-site concern regarding
soil staining and an off-site concern relating to potential migration of a groundwater contamination plume originating from a nearby dry cleaner. The
Phase II consisted of the construction of three wells (2 shallow and 1 deep double-case well) and sampling and testing the soil-groundwater for
chlorinated and petroleum-based compounds. Petroleum contaminated soil and groundwater was identified in the stained soil area. Provided
recommendations and cost-estimates for erformin ro er assessment and otentia! remediation of the concern.
The project consisted of performing a Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) for the SFWMD at a 1300-acre limestone mining
quarry and sod farm, The project is one of the "cornerstone" projects of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), The limestone
rock mines were extremely low in permeability which will allow their use for surface water storage for billions of gallons of water for future supply
purposes, Mr. Yarina developed and supervised implementation of the scope of work for assessment of the entire property which included historical
research, site reconnaissance, soil. sediment. surface water and groundwater sampling, Recommendations for further assessment were provided.
Based on the work erformed. the SFWMD urchased the land for more than $150,000.
