Rickenbacker Causeway (Key Biscayne) <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Sunny Isles Beach is fortunate to have two high capacity east-west causeways that can be used in the <br />future for evacuation to the mainland. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Bridge Opening/Lock Down <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The procedures regarding the scheduling of bridge openings over the Intracoastal Waterway are <br />defmed in a Memorandum of Understanding between Miami Dade County Emergency <br />Management, Miami Dade County Public Works, Florida Department of Transportation, and the <br />U.S. Coast Guard. The procedure is designed to accommodate the evacuation of residents of the <br />barrier islands and the movement of vessels to safe harbor. The priority is to provide safety to <br />residents before property.
