,._,

I

NSU CENTER FOR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH
Davie, Florida

architecture . engineering

Located at Nova Southeastern University's Health
Professions Division 800,000 sq. ft. Davie campus, the
Center for Collaborative Research (CCR) will be a
state-of-the-art, cooperative interdisciplinary center for
medical, pharmaceutical, dental and oceanographic
research. The 213,000 sq. ft. building is scheduled to
start construction in 2010 and will cost an estimated
$70 million to construct.

The CCR will house one ofthe largest wet-lab research
facilities in Florida. The wet lab will be a home base for
applied health care research and medical informatics.
Researchers will collaborate within this advanced envi-
ronment to investigate pharmaceutical synthesis, can-
cer therapy, human stem cell research, biomaterials,
wildlife DNA forensics, and ocean biomaterials. Our
design will incorporate bio-medical labs, tissue culture
suites, microscopy facilities, small animal vivariums
with ABSL -2 suites and surgical suites. The CCR will
be home to the Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for
Cancer Research; NSU's part ofthe Florida LambdaRail
(Florida's Research and Education Network - operating
a statewide high performance fiber-optic network infra-
structure linking Florida's research institutions world-
wide); information and technology services; investiga-
tors from the Health Professions Division and
Oceanographic Center; and the U.S. Geological Survey
(USGS). The federal agency is partnering with NSU,
Florida Atlantic University and the University of Florida
to promote scientific cooperation for the Greater
Everglades Restoration Project.

In addition, the CCR project will include a six level,
1250 car parking garage. This garage will provide
parking for the CCR staff and additional student park-
ing.

The CCR building will incorporate all of the latest mod-
ern educational technology while blending in the
Mediterranean Architecture of the surrounding
Academical Village. Our design will follow NIH guide-
lines, Guide for Care and use of Lab Animals, AAALAC
standards, National Research Council and others.

architecture

engineering

roofing consulting

4Kd 'J''''K'J d-4C.'

~eteG-'f.atite9

construction management

~
~
~
