BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br /> <br />Since 2004, Kimley-Horn has served as the general planning consultant to the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, <br />which operates the Tri-Rail commuter rail service between West Palm Beach and Miami. Tri-Rail is the only existing commuter rail <br />service in Florida. Responsibilities include short- and long-range transportation planning, facilities planning and development, <br />alternative analyses and major investment studies, station area/transit-oriented development and oversight, financial planning and <br />analysis, environmental analysis, and conceptual site planning. Recent assignments performed under the contract have included an <br />evaluation of FT A funds distributed to the Miami <br />Urbanized Area, a system-wide study of existing and <br />future parking and circulation needs at Tri-Rail stations, <br />identification and evaluation of sites for new Tri-Rail <br />stations, assessment of transit oriented development <br />proposals at Tri-Rail Stations, and the development of <br />site plans for station improvements.
