The work is especially challenging because renovation design and all construction work must be done after the stores close at night, typically after 11 p.m. Regional Training Institute (RTI), Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC), Army National Guard (ARNG), Columbus, Ohio (U.S. Army and Air Force National Guard Bureau). Designer responsible for building structural model in Risa and drafting. The U.S. RTI - DSCC is a state-of-the-art training center dedicated to providing world-class instruction and educational facilities for both military and non-military organizations and personnel. The RTI project is a 130,000-square-foot facility housing all administration, logistical, and operational functions with complete educational facilities including classrooms, auditorium, library, and learning centers. The RTI also includes a multi-purpose training room and a dining hall with full kitchen for three-meals-per-day service. The billets facility consists of 200 single-occupancy rooms, a common lounge, and washers and dryers on each floor. This project will adhere to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines and compliance. Terminal and Parking Lot Canopies at Melbourne International Airport (MLB), Melbourne, Florida (Airport Engineering Co., Inc.). Designer responsible for structural analysis, design, and drafting. This project involved design and construction services to provide for the construction of approximately 7,240 linear feet (LF) of new canopies to cover walkways to parking lots, plus replace the covering material and make required structural modifications on the existing tenninal curbside overhang at MLB. Project 777 Theme Park, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (ALDAR Properties PJSC). Designer responsible for preliminary building infonnation modeling (BIM) model set-up. Work scope involves architectural, engineering, and construction administration services for the development of a new Warner Bros. theme park in Abu Dhabi. Floyd Hull Repairs, Fort Lauderdale, Florida (City of Fort Lauderdale). Designer responsible for structural analysis and drafting. This project involved engineering, architectural, structural, and construction management and inspection services to complete repairs to Floyd Hull because of the damages caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) Fare Collection, Miami, Florida (Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc.). Designer responsible for site visit to gather existing structural infonnation and provide analysis and design of replacement systems. This project involves MDT fare collection structural and electrical engineering services for the fare collection supplier. Before joining PBS&J, Mr. Alvarez served as a plans reviewer and worked in construction management for renovation work in Cuba. After leaving Cuba, he went to Colombia and worked as a structural engineer in the field. He worked in Cuba for ten years and in Colombia for two years. PBSI.
