In order to facilitate the need for safety of both vehicular and pedestrian users of
the roadway, MLA will develop the planting design to conform to design
standards of the reviewing agencies, including FDOT, Miami -Dade County and
the City of Sunny Isles Beach. MLA's
vast experience in roadway landscape
designs provides the City with a
consultant that has a working knowledge
of the design criteria and guidelines
necessary for ensuring clear lines of sight
and safe conditions for roadway projects.
1 Task 3: Irrigation Design
The plans will also detail locations of
necessary curb replacement and new
construction. All proposed hardscaping,
such as pavers, will be shown and
detailed on the drawings.
To ensure the longevity of the streetscape enhancements, MLA
irrigation construction documents. This design will provide the
irrigation water requirements to sustain plant material within the
described in Task 2. The water source for
irrigation systems designed by MLA for streetscape
projects has included wells, potable water, and
canals adjacent to the project site. Should non -
potable water be the source, MLA has experience
in the development of pump stations to withdraw
water from wells or canals and deliver it to the
landscape areas. Water use permitting through the
SFWMD and coordination with the local drainage
district would then be carried out by MLA for the
pump stations. The irrigation construction
documents will include all required irrigation
materials, details, specifications, and notes for the
irrigation installation.
Task 4: Status Meetings
will develop
necessary
right -of -way
The MLA staff will conduct regular status meetings with the City during the
design process. These meetings will include coordination with the City Project
Manager, Engineering staff and Maintenance personnel. This coordination will
be critical to get "buy in" from the City to ensure the long term success of the
project.
