The construction
plans were developed in accordance with applicable
FDOT and Broward County Traffic Engineering
standards, using a special mast - arm /luminaire
combination specifically developed by Arvida
Corporation for the Weston area. The construction
plans also incorporated video vehicle detection,
internally illuminated street signs, upgraded ADA-
compliant sidewalk connections and brick -paver
crosswalk installations.
Weston Road / Arvida Parkway Corridor Study
Multi -task project that focused on developing a cost -
feasible needs program for the Weston Road
Corridor, including the intersection of Arvida Parkway
with Weston Road and the 1 -75 interchange. The
analysis included trip generation and assignment of
the revised Equitable Increment III (Park of
Commerce) Development of Regional Impact
development program, and subarea forecasting of
corridor traffic demand within the five -year and
buildout year planning horizons using the Broward
County Buildout (FSUTMS) Model. Roadway
program was developed to maintain LOS D through-
out the corridor, while minimizing the length of
Weston Road and Arvida Parkway required to be six -
laned. New signal locations along the corridor were
determined based on sidestreet forecasts and were
incorporated into the future capacity analysis using
ART—PLAN. ART—PLAN signalization inputs were
based on signal timing parameters developed for
each intersection based on anticipated demand.
Final improvement program components were
included in the DRI Development Order and the
City's Five -Year Capital Improvements Program.
Funding for improvements and new signals were
identified through a combination of developer, City
and proportionate -share funding sources.
City of Miramar General Engineering and
Planning Services (Traffic Engineering)
Serve as Development Review Committee (DRC)
reviewer for transportation and traffic engineering
components of site plans, engineering plans, and
land use plan applications submitted to the City of
Miramar. Review responsibilities include traffic
impact analysis, trip generation analysis, traffic
operations, site access and circulation, stacking and
queuing analysis, signing and marking review,
geometric considerations, safety compliance with the
Miramar Land Development Code, Broward County
Land Development Code (Trafficways Standards)
and FDOT Standards. Other responsibilities also
include representing the City at public hearings, City
Commission Meetings, Planning and Zoning Board
Hearings and other governmental agency meetings
and hearings.
City of Lauderhill General Engineering and Planning
Services (Traffic Engineering)
Serve as Development Review Committee (DRC) reviewer
for transportation and traffic engineering components of
site plans, engineering plans, and land use plan
applications submitted to the City of Lauderhill. Review
responsibilities include traffic impact analysis, trip
generation analysis, traffic operations, site access and
circulation, stacking and queuing analysis, signing and
marking review, geometric considerations, safety
considerations, transportation concurrency, compliance
with Lauderhill Land Development Code and Engineering
Standards, Broward County Land Development Code
(Trafficways Standards) and FDOT Standards. Other
responsibilities also include representation the City at
public hearings, City Commission Meetings, Planning and
Zoning Board Hearings and other governmental agency
meetings and hearings.
Broward Central Catholic High School (Site Planning,
Concurrency and FDOT Access Management) -
Coordinated with Broward County Traffic Engineering
School Safety Coordinator and development team
engineers and architects to provide suitable access and
circulation for this proposed school site. Provided traffic
analysis for proposed Griffin Road improvements in order
for site to satisfy concurrency requirements for regional
roadway network. Developed conceptual access manage-
ment plan and design with FDOT in order to meet the
requirements of Rule Chapter 14 -96 and 14 -97 on the
State Highway System (Flamingo Road) and obtain
favorable review for permitting.
Broward Urban Area Transportation Study (BUATS)
Year 2015 Plan Update
Provided various land use and highway network evalua-
tions as part of the initial phases of the plan development
including comparisons of 1990 census -based city -to -city
work trip to work trip flows produced by the base year
(1990) urban model, land use checks including FSUTMS
LUCHECK and other ZDATA checks, committed develop-
ment and DRI review, special generator review, develop-
ment of special generator file (ZDATA3) and various
highway network coding checks.
Scott S.
