No work shall commence on this Project or any portion thereof without implementation <br />of this Plan. Excavated or other material stored adjacent to or partially upon a roadway <br />pavement, shall be adequately marked for traffic safety at all times. <br />The Contractor shall provide the necessary access to all adjacent property during <br />construction. Special attention is called to the provisions contained in sub - article 102- <br />.4, "Access for Residences and Business ". <br />The Contractor shall also provide access at all times to South Florida Water Management <br />District (SFWMD) areas, during all phrases of construction. <br />Special attention shall be given for safety directing flow of pedestrian and vehicular <br />traffic. At the discretion of the Engineer, the City may require the Contractor to call for <br />and hire off -duty police officers for directing the traffic and maintaining safety if in any <br />way his operations will curtail the use of the Streets, roads and work areas specified <br />herein. <br />For bidding purposes, the Lump Sum (LS) item 102 -1, as indicated in the Bid Form of <br />the Proposal for Maintenance of Traffic, shall be for the provisions and Maintenance of <br />Traffic Devises beginning at 12:00 midnight and continuing for the next 24 hours, or <br />fraction thereof. Payment shall be as per section 21. MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC <br />DEVISES. <br />When no item for "Maintenance of Traffic" has been provided by the Contractor in the <br />Bid Form of the Proposal, no separate payment shall be made. <br />Page 111, Section 102 -4.1 DETOURS: This sub - article is amended to include: <br />Traffic may be detoured only upon approval of the Director of the Public Works <br />Department. <br />15. Maintenance of Traffic Devises: <br />Barriers (including warning lights), barricades, construction signs, flashing arrow boards, <br />and high intensity flashing lights shall be in accordance with the Manual on Uniform <br />Traffic Control Devises for Streets and Highways, U.S. Department of Transportation <br />Federal Highway Administration (ANSI D6.1 e 1989) the State of Florida Department of <br />Transportation Roadway and Traffic Design Standards for Design, Construction. <br />Maintenance and Utility Operations for Streets on State Maintenance Systems, Public <br />Works Manual of Metropolitan Dade County, and the latest revisions of the <br />aforementioned manuals. <br />" All traffic control devices (including signs), warning devices and barriers shall be <br />furnished by the Contractor ". <br />Special Provisions Page 5 of 6 <br />
