The study included vegetation mapping, wetland
delineation, aquatic site assessments and endangered
species surveys.
The team identified habitats, wildlife and vegetation
between the Gulf of Mexico and Laguna Madre. Habitats
included the primary dune line, freshwater wetland,
sand flats, algal mats, seagrass beds and unvegetated
sand ponds. The study included a piping plover survey,
which met all the requirements of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Services. The team used Global Positioning Systems
(GPS) to identify habitat boundaries. Project specialists
snorkeled in the laguna to identify underwater vegetation
and habitats. The team examined potential locations for
channel access. By assessing the hydrology and elevation
of the site, the team was able to develop a proposed
footprint for development on the tract.
Services
Vegetation Mapping
Wetland Delineation
Aquatic Site
Assessments
Endangered Species
Surveys
