1 <br />B. Grading Outside Structure Lines: Grade areas adjacent to structures as <br />shown on the Drawings, to drain away from structures and to prevent <br />ponding. Finish surfaces free from irregular surface changes, and as <br />follows: <br />1. Unpaved Areas: Finish areas to within not more than 0.10 feet <br />above or below the required elevation. <br />' 2. Walks: Shape surface of areas under walks to line, grade and <br />cross - section, with finish surface not more than 0.15 feet above the <br />required subgrade and not below surrounding grade to avoid <br />1 ponding water from runoff. <br />C. Grading Surface of Fill Under Slabs: Grade smooth and even, free of <br />voids, compacted as specified, and to required elevation. Provide final <br />grades within a tolerance of 1/2 -inch when tested with a 10 -foot <br />straightedge. <br />D. Stones or rock fragments larger than 2 -1/2 inches in their greatest <br />dimension will not be permitted in the top 6- inches of the subgrade line of <br />' all dike, fills or embankments. <br />E. All cut and fill slopes shall be uniformly dressed to the slope, cross section <br />' and alignment shown on the Drawings, or as directed by the Engineer to <br />prevent ponding water on driveways, walkways or against structures. <br />' F. During grading, protect all buried valved extensions and covers, sprinklers <br />and any other mechanical or structural object protruding from below <br />grade. <br />3.06 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />t A. Quality Control Testing During Construction: The Contractor shall retain a <br />certified laboratory and make all arrangements for testing necessary to <br />comply with these specifications, at locations directed by the Engineer in <br />accordance with Section 01410. Allow testing service to inspect and <br />approve subgrades and fill layers before further construction work is <br />performed. The Engineer shall receive copies of all laboratory test <br />results. <br />B. If in the opinion of the Engineer, based on testing service reports and <br />' inspection, subgrade or fills which have been placed are below specified <br />density, provide additional compaction and testing at no additional <br />' expense. <br />3.07 MAINTENANCE <br />07/06 02220 -14 05 -5564 <br />
