F11 <br />J <br />1 <br />1 <br />SECTION 02221 <br />TRENCHING, BEDDING, AND BACKFILL FOR PIPE <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br />A. Furnish labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to perform <br />all excavation, backfill, fill, grading and slope protection required to <br />complete the piping work shown on the Drawings and specified herein. <br />The work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to: catch basins, <br />manholes, vaults, duct conduit, pipe, and roadways and paving; all <br />bedding, backfilling, fill and required borrow; grading and disposal of <br />surplus and unsuitable materials; and all related work such as sheeting, <br />bracing and water handling. <br />1.02 RELATED WORK <br />A. Section 02100: Site Preparation <br />1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Codes and Standards: Perform excavation work in compliance with <br />applicable requirements of governing authorities having jurisdiction. <br />1.04 JOB CONDITIONS <br />A. The Contractor shall examine the site and review the available test <br />borings or undertake his own soil borings prior to submitting his bid, taking <br />into consideration all conditions that may affect his work. The Owner and <br />Engineer will not assume responsibility for variations of sub -soil quality or <br />conditions at locations other than places shown and at the time the <br />investigation was made. Boring log data is included in this section. <br />B. Existing Utilities: Locate existing underground utilities in the areas of <br />work. If utilities are to remain in place, provide adequate means of <br />protection during earthwork operations. <br />1. Should uncharted, or incorrectly charted, piping or other utilities be <br />encountered during excavation, consult the Engineer and the <br />Owner of such piping or utility immediately for directions. <br />2. Cooperate with Owner and utility companies in keeping respective <br />services and facilities in operation.
