Utilities
At the south end close to Innd Street point of
connection, there is a FPL transformer box with in the
limits of the 20 feet pedestrian easement. The Berger
A vart team will coordinate with FPL as well with other
utilities to solve any utilities conflict and will investigate
utilities requirement for future capacities that can be
incorporated with the bridge design.

3. Approach to Project

3.1. Assumptions
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is planning to construct a pedestrian and
emergency vehicle bridge connecting North Bay Road from Inn Street to 174(11
Street. The proposed structure will span the existing
-,
canal and its landfalls with an approximate clear span =>
length of 150 feet. The bridge deck will consists of
two thirteen-foot vehicular lanes and two seven-foot
wide outside shoulders, to be used as pedestrian/bike
path. The structure will be at grade bridge.
Intermediate supports in the channel will not be
permitted.

r:-

1m l
~W
~J,:..~;;:.;Q,

3.2. Structures

3.2.1. Pedestrian Bridge
Cross section of the proposed structure will include the ultimate configuration to
avoid future bridge expansion and increase of construction cost.

3.2.1.1. Future Use.
It is the intent of the City of Sunny Isles Beach to build the bridge to carry
vehicular traffic in both directions, with separate space at both sides of the
structure for pedestrian movements, after securing sufficient easement at the south
terminus of the bridge.

3.2.1.2. Original Use.
A present easement condition allows movement in the structure for
pedestrian/bike usage and small emergency vehicles only. Access to other type of
vehicles will be restricted by usage of concrete barriers at both ends of the
structure.

3.2.1.3. Alternative of Design.
Various design alternatives will be developed during the conceptual period. Each
alternative will be investigated for structural adequacy, functionality and
aesthetical attractive.
