He has over 51
years of bridge design, construction and inspection experience. He was the Segmental Specialist on the Port of Miami high-
level bridge project. He also served as the project manager and author of "Inspection and Maintenance Manual" for precast
segmental bridges, which was prepared for the Florida Department of Transportation.

He served as liaison with the Florida Department of Transportation during construction of the 1-75/1-595 Interchange, which
consisted of fourteen (14) precast concrete segmental bridges. Duties included review of erection procedures and contractor
Casting Manual.

Selected bridge designs Mr. Perez has been involved include:

· Pedestrian Bridge I Dressel Dairy's Canal, Miami-Dade County, Florida.
The structure is a steel tubular truss bridge with a cast-in-place deck and concrete approach ramps meeting ADA
requirements. This structure connects the U.S. Southern Command Headquarters with the Federal Reserve Miami.
Mr. Perez was the Project Engineer and designer of the substructure.

· Pedestrian Bridge I Okeechobee Road
New ramps connecting to existing pedestrian bridge. Main ramps consists of Florida Double Tee and cast in place
deck. Mr. Perez participated in the superstructure design and in the checking of the substructure design.

· S.R. 934 (Hialeah Expressway) - FDOT District VI (Steel Plate Girders)
Bridge Development Report (BDR), 30 % Bridge Plans and Final Plans
This project consisted of the widening of the simple supported steel plate girders bridges (slightly curved and on
tangent with six spans each @ 125') at S.R. 934 Over the FEC Railroad Crossing at W. 5th Way. Due to vertical
clearance constrains and higher loads, the existing steel frame pier-cap and the foundation required strengthening.
The steel pier-cap is strengthened using external post-tensioning to increase the positive moment capacity. Mr. Perez
performed a complete constructibility review of the retrofit of the existing integral pier cap which included
access to the inside of the steel pier cap, equipment, safety of the workers due to the confined space and the
postensioning system.
