The work included concrete apron pavement, drainage, water, sewer, parking and site grading. In particular, the coordination and phasing of a very complex construction site. Florida Power and Light's substation had to be temporally accommodated as the cargo building was constructed around it while protecting the substation from the Jet blast. Also included was coordination with three separate projects on the same site as well as planning for the construction of three cargo buildings in the U shape surrounding the site. I Description: The investigation of MIA Parking Garage No.7. is currently under construction. Cracks in the beams and columns were observed during construction. P & A performed a complete structural analysis and review to verify the adequacy of the original design. Investigation of in-place construction was performed to determine the cause of cracks in the post tensioned beams. Specific tasks included the investigation of the following structural components of the parking garage. 1- Post tensioned beams and girders with cracks, displaced and ungrouted tendon ducts, Investigation required crack survey and monitoring, impulse radar survey, x-rays, structural analysis and repair recommendations. Also included is review of the original design, structural analysis and review of the proposed repairs. 2- Evaluation of the cracks in column and post tensioned beam core joints, field survey ofthe cracks, petrographic examination of the concrete, structural analysis and repair recommendations. 3- Review of the cracks in the gap structure beams, structural analysis, recommendation of repairs, design of repairs and field monitoring. 4- Investigation, analysis and repair recommendations for ripples in the parking deck slabs, vibrations in the parking deck, cracks in the elevator lobby slabs, cracks in the retaining wall, cracks in the rail walls and evaluation of the columns with reduced concrete compressive strength. 5- Cost estimate and life cycle cost evaluation for various components of the existing structure, repairs and comparison of various alternates.
