Our focus is in providing a .......
design that focuses on improving the
quality of life by reducing traffic congestion,
improving water quality, promoting
economic growth and minimizing the
impacts to our natural resources and our
communities. We view this approach as a
sound business decision. In order to
successfully execute this plan, the
approach to the way transportation
planning choices are made must also
change. Decisions at that level of analysis must evaluate how the transportation
solutions being proposed will have a positive effect on the surrounding natural
environment.

,......

,..r-

Because we are a full-service transportation engineering firm we have the expertise,
experience and technical capabilities to implement sustainable design practices at every
phase of a project's life cycle (i.e. planning, design, construction and maintenance). We
have specific and relevant experience ranging from the design of cost-effective
implementable transit solutions, such as MDT's Busway to the planning for the future
reconstruction of 1-395, while at the same time providing urban design concepts in
conjunction with the interstate project to assure that the local communities are
enhanced as a result of the project. Those local projects have taught our staff that for
sustainable design solutions to come to fruition, we need to have a clear vision of the
construction related impacts as a consequence of the design. We involve our
construction inspection employees during the design process to provide oversight and
constructability reviews. This provides a seamless transition from paper to pavement
and ensures that the goal of a sustainable design becomes a reality.

Our staff has the technical expertise in GIS, Water Quality, Transportation Planning,
Disaster Management, Monitoring and Recovery Services Program, Construction
Management, Inspection and Testing, Civil and Structural Design to deliver for the City
a sustainable design.

CADD & Software

At Metric, we maintain state-of-the art equipment and the skills necessary to derive full
benefits from its capabilities. These assets will be used to provide valuable assistance
in performing the engineering tasks as well as the preparation of any reports and
documents. In addition to this specialized equipment, we provide continuous training to

. Page 7
