Equipment powered by an internal combustion engine will be located so that the exhausts <br />discharge away from combustible materials and away from workers. <br />8. When the exhausts are piped outside the building, clearance of at least six inches will be <br />maintained between such piping and combustible material. <br /> <br />9. Free access from the street to fire hydrants and to outside connections for standpipes, <br />sprinklers, or other fire extinguishing equipment, whether permanent or temporary, will <br />be provided and maintained at all times. <br /> <br />10. All internal combustion equipment will be shut down prior to refueling. Fuel for this <br />equipment will be stored in a safe location. <br /> <br />11. Pedestrian walkways will not be so constructed as to impede access to hydrants. <br /> <br />12. Sufficient fire fighting equipment will be located near any flammable or combustible liquid <br />storage area. <br /> <br />C~ <br /> <br />13. Only approved containers and portable tanks will be used for the storage and handling of <br />flammable combustible liquids. <br /> <br />14. No material or construction will interfere with access to hydrants, Siamese connections, or <br />fire-extinguishing equipment. <br /> <br />15. A temporary or permanent water supply of volume, duration, and pressure sufficient to <br />operate the fire-fighting equipment properly will be made available. <br /> <br />16. Standpipes with outlets will be provided on large multistory buildings to provide for fire <br />protection on upper levels. If the, water pressure is insufficient, a pump will also be <br />provided. <br /> <br />17. Heating devices will be situated so they are not likely to overturn and will be installed in <br />accordance with their listing, including clearance to combustible material or equipment. <br /> <br />18. Competent personnel will maintain temporary heating equipment, when utilized. <br /> <br />19. An ample number of fully charged portable fire extinguishers would be provided throughout <br />the operation. All motor driven mobile equipment will be equipped with an approved fire <br />extinguisher. <br /> <br />20. Roadways between and around combustible storage piles will be at least 15 feet wide and <br />maintained free from accumulation of rubbish, equipment, or other materials, <br /> <br />21. Smoking will be prohibited at or in the vicinity of hazardous operations or materials. Where <br />smoking is permitted, safe receptacles will be provided for smoking materials. <br /> <br />8 <br />
