c c ~ ~ City of Sunny Isles Beach: Special Inspection Services RFO No. 11-07-11 2.5 REPRESENTATIVE PROFESSIONAL DESIGN AND CONSULTING SERVICES EXPERIENCE URS is one of the largest FDOT roadway and bridge designers in the state of Florida as well as nationally and have successfully designed and completed hundreds of major roadway and bridge projects throughout the state of Florida. URS has roadway design and traffic engineering staff located in our Ft. Lauderdale office and our Miami and Boca Raton offices maintains a large staff of roadway and bridge/structural design personnel. Additionally, the Boca Raton office provides a full range of multi- disciplinary engineering design capabilities including civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, environmental engineering and permitting. The URS Boca Raton office has been providing "Full Services" engineering design services to the SFWMD on major Everglades Restoration projects for over the last 15 years. The following Design Projects presented in this RFP are a compendium of selected examples of the bridge design, facilities design and projects with significant environmental permitting challenges which demonstrate the broad range of design and design coordination services URS is capable of providing to the City in support of this RFP. Desiqn Proiect #1 - Southeast 17th Street Causeway Bridqe Replacement, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida URS, through our subsidiary EC Driver, designed a new twin double-leaf bascule bridge designated as the "Gateway to Fort Lauderdale". The new bridge greatly alleviated congestion for both vehicular and boat traffic and accomplished many of the Department of Transportation's goals. The design development process involved extensive community involvement. Two design charettes were held to build consensus among residents and local business owners. Their input affected the bridge shapes, colors, lighting and amenities. 2-13 I P age URS
