<br />3.2.16.8 <br /> <br />3.2.16.9 <br /> <br />3.2.16.10 <br /> <br />3.2.16.11 <br /> <br />3.2.16.12 <br /> <br />3.2.16.13 <br /> <br />The Contractor is responsible for the proper packing, shipping, handling <br />and storage (including but not limited to shipment or storage at the <br />proper temperature and humidity) of materials to be incorporated in the <br />Work, so as to insure the preservation of the quality and fitness of the <br />material for proper installation and incorporation in the Work. For <br />example, but not by way of limitation, Contractor shall, when necessary, <br />place material on wooden platforms or other hard and clean surfaces <br />and not on the ground, and place material under cover in any appropriate <br />shelter or facility. Stored materials or equipment shall be located so as to <br />facilitate proper inspection. Material and equipment, which is delivered <br />crated, shall remain crated until ready for installation. Lawns, grass plots <br />or other private property shall not be used for storage purposes without <br />written permission of City or lessee unless otherwise within terms of the <br />easements obtained by the City. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall give notice in writing at least 48 hours before <br />breaking ground, to all persons, Public Utility Companies, public <br />agencies, government agencies owners of property having structures or <br />improvements in proximity to site of the Work, superintendents, <br />inspectors, or those otherwise in charge of property, streets, water pipes, <br />gas pipes, sewer pipes, telephone cables, electric cables, railroads or <br />otherwise, who may be affected by the Contractor's operation, in order <br />that they may remove any obstruction for which they are responsible and <br />have representative on site to see that their property is properly <br />protected. <br /> <br />Contractor shall field locate all utilities and acknowledges that all utilities <br />are not necessarily shown in the Contract Documents, or may be <br />incorrectly located thereon. The Contractor shall protect all utilities <br />encountered while performing its work, whether indicated on the Contract <br />Drawings or not. The Contractor shall maintain utilities in service until <br />moved or abandoned. The Contractor shall exercise due care when <br />excavating around utilities and shall restore any damaged utilities to the <br />same condition or better as existed prior to starting the Work, at no cost <br />to the City. The Contractor shall maintain operating utilities or other <br />services, even if they are shown to be abandoned on the Contract <br />Drawings, in service until new facilities are provided, tested and ready for <br />use. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall return all improvements on or about the site and <br />adjacent property which are not shown to be altered, removed or <br />otherwise changed to conditions which existed prior to starting work. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall protect the Work, including but not limited to, the <br />site, stored materials and equipment, excavations, and excavated or <br />stockpiled soil or other material, intended for use in the Work, and shall <br />take all necessary precautions to prevent or minimize damage to same <br />or detrimental effect upon performance caused by or due to rain, snow, <br />ice, run off, floods, temperature, wind, dust, sand and flying debris. <br /> <br />The Contractor's superintendent shall take all steps reasonably <br />necessary to prevent accidents and protect workers, material, equipment <br />and property. <br /> <br />12 <br />
