® InterFleet RFP No. 11 -12 -01
City of Sunny Isles Beach
Preliminary Installation & Implementation Procedure
Installation Process
1. Pre - Installation Conference Call
A conference call should be established with the Account Manager, the Director of Field Services,
the Assigned Field Service Technician and the client to discuss hardware, sensory and
installation requirements. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page with respect to the
client expectations and an installation plan can be formulated accordingly. In advance of this call,
the Client should provide a list of vehicles including make, model, and vintage that will require
installation (different vehicle types require different install components to complete the install) and
a list of the telemetry data that the client is hoping to capture. In addition, InterFleet Inc. will
ensure that any changes that have to be made to the Sales Order are made.
Items that need to be specifically addressed
Antenna Type: Will technicians be able to hard mount the antenna or are magnetic antennas
preferred? It is important that the costs /benefits of using a surface mount, mirror mount and /or
magnetic mount antenna are addressed in this discussion.
Sensor(s) Type: Review list of vehicles and sensors required. Provide feedback and
recommendations if another sensor should be used. If necessary, an on -site pre - installation
review of all vehicles might be required to determine appropriate sensors.
2. Schedule Installation
Ensure addresses are obtained for all installation sites, including Vehicle List and Open /Closing
times. All sites must have a Contact Name and Phone Number.
3. Post Installation
A follow -up conference call should be established with the Account Manager, the Director of Field
Services, and the client to review the installation process and any difficulties that might have been
encountered. Any outstanding installations will be scheduled.
Installation of Units
InterFleet Inc. will ensure that hardware is installed in a pre- approved location, out of sight of the
driver.
It is a straightforward installation with combined GPS and cellular surface mount antenna. Upon
vehicle ignition, the GPS unit will automatically report to the InterFleet Inc. Data Servers. No
operator input is required to begin transmitting position data.
GPS units do not require back up power. Units are connected to a 12v ignition power source,
ensuring units are powered up whenever the vehicles are on. Conversion cables required for 24v
sources are also available. All electrical connections are secured and can be easily accessible
by staff if units are to be switched. Parameters of the unit can also be changed using remote
access and thus technician input is rarely required.
Installation time for 1 InterFleet® GPS unit and Dual Mode Antenna by 1 technician is about 2
hour. For any on -site installations, InterFleet Inc. always sends out a team of technicians so that
installations move smoothly.
PROPRIETARY & CONFIDENTIAL: This document contains information that is proprietary to InterFleet Inc.
