If not, <br />• There should be a contact person within each organization who <br />manages the contract: <br />✓ In business settings, this may be facilities or building <br />management. <br />✓ In school settings, this may be purchasing or the athletic <br />department. <br />✓ In health care settings, this may be purchasing or food service. <br />✓ In government buildings, this may be the state commission on <br />services for the blind. <br />• Ask your partner organizations to watch for their route driver, or post a <br />note on the machine for the route driver to contact them. <br />Contracts & Policies <br />Encouraging community organizations to develop nutrition policies or <br />guidelines for food served on their campuses is a worthwhile step in <br />achieving a healthy environment in your community. (See Appendix C for <br />a copy of the worksite nutrition policy from Clark County, Washington.) <br />?anization's vending contract can simply require the <br />=nding operator to comply with the organization's nutrition <br />policy. <br />An alternative is to add contract language with specific <br />requirements for Fit PickTm (percentage of products, <br />nutritional guidelines.) This can ensure that low -fat, <br />low -sugar snacks are a part of the vending program. <br />• If vending companies are receptive to meeting <br />specific requests of customers and performance is <br />excellent, contract changes may be unnecessary. <br />10 <br />
