Stern <br />Architects and Spanish architect Enric <br />Miralles, we developed a master plan <br />for the entire development. <br /> <br />Providing a gateway to the sea for <br />locals and visitors, Pare Diagonal Mar <br />features play areas, lakes, a waterfall, <br />an outdoor cafe, a fountain and viewing <br />mounds, all linked by paths that lead <br /> <br />Urban beachfront improved and revitalized <br /> <br />26-acre park, 840,OOO-square-foot retail center, and <br />high-rise condominiums <br /> <br />Environmentally sensitive landscape design solutions <br /> <br />Hotels and a performing arts/convention center <br />included in expansion plans <br /> <br />National Honor Award, General Design Category, <br />Ii m,:.r-ir.An ~n('j~tv nf I Anri~('An,:> tJ.r('hitp,..t~ <br /> <br />to the beach. The park is conceived <br />as an abstract tapestry in plan view, <br />and is enjoyed from above by high-rise <br />residents. <br /> <br />Ecology played a meaningful role in <br />the park's design. Porous pavements <br />minimize stormwater runoff. The use <br />of native plant materials allows for <br />reduced irrigation and pesticide use.
