strong skills in the areas of graphic communication, creative problem-solving, public charettes
and presentations, client consultation, project management, and construction document
preparation.
Mr. Johnson’s experience includes the following projects:
Harmony East Consulting Services, Harmony Development Company, Harmony,
Osceola County, FL. Harmony, a new community in Osceola County located on 11,000 acres
and developed to blend with the natural environment, included two 500-acre lakes and over
7,700 acres of open space combined with neighborhoods, on-site schools, a planned town
center, parks and trails, playgrounds and ball fi elds, a swim center, commerce parks, and an
18-hole golf course. Planning and engineering services were provided to Harmony Development
LLC including conceptual land use studies, phasing and density studies conceptual plans that
addressed the framework of streets and public open space, residential blocks, and existing
natural features (wetlands, topography, vegetation, etc.) resulting in the development of
various scenarios and alternatives as part of the Osceola County development process. A small
area study was performed for Harmony East that was planned as a low density section of the
community geared towards equestrian usage. As lead landscape architect, Mr. Johnson was
responsible for concept development, master planning, and client meetings and presentations.
Harmony West Consulting Services, Harmony Development Company, Harmony, FL.
Planning and engineering services were provided to Harmony Development LLC, including
conceptual land use studies, phasing and density studies conceptual plans that addressed the
framework of streets and public open space, residential blocks, and existing natural features
(wetlands, topography, vegetation, etc.) resulting in the development of various scenarios
and alternatives as part of the Osceola County development process. Phase 2 of Harmony
West involved the preparation of alternative concept plans for parcels R-3 and RR-1, a total
of 435 acres, and embraced planning principles associated with a traditional neighborhood
development and the 302-acre Phase 1 included parcels R1 and R2. As lead landscape architect,
Mr. Johnson was responsible for parcel and road alignment concept design, master planning,
and facilitating client meetings and presentations.
Clearwater Beach Walk, City of Clearwater, Clearwater, FL. This project included an
ambitious master plan to rejuvenate Clearwater Beach as a great beach destination place via
a 1,200-foot-long and 25-foot-wide pedestrian promenade and a revised two-lane winding
beachfront scenic drive that connects the south end of Clearwater Beach to Pier 60 Park and
Mandalay Streetscape farther north. The design was inspired by the presence of the beach and
its abundant marine life, and calls for an enhanced pedestrian environment through planting
design; a hike and bike trail; accent paving; an abundance of seating opportunities; strong
gateway statements; interactive fountains; beach-inspired public art; traffi c-calming techniques;
and the vacation of existing rights-of-way to encourage the development of outdoor sidewalk
